Jaded dreams and broken glass
splintered, shattered, lacking mass.
Accident, illness, either or both,
break in pieces dreams and hope.
Society's disdain for those afflicted,
medical malaise oft predilected,
adding burdens to the broken pieces
of an anguished soul torn to pieces.
In dumb silence I seek to build;
a life undone and broken still.
Finding scattered mind and heart,
a life begins from the little parts.
Dedicated to all who have survived acquired or traumatic brain injury and
lived to tell about it.
